A Wendell man faces a charge of felony assault by strangulation after an incident in which, police said, he choked a woman until she lost consciousness.
Steve Edward Sweat, 34, was also charged with two counts of misdemeanor assault on a female, and two counts of misdemeanor property damage. He was being held without bail and is to appear in court at 9 a.m. Monday.
Wendell police arrested him Saturday, a day after they said the assaults took place. One woman suffered a cut on her left temple, multiple bruises on her arms and stomach and a neck red in color from being placed in a choke hold, police said. They said he also damaged four tires on her car, and damaged the front door of a building. A second woman was hit, pushed and bitten on the arm.
