Police are trying to determine if there’s a connection between the shooting death of a 27-year-old man in East Durham early Monday afternoon and the wounding of another man who showed up at a hospital a short time later.
Police answering a shooting call at about 1 p.m. found J’Corey Terrell Bailey lying in the yard at 2805 Ashe St. Bailey, of Durham, died at the scene, said police spokeswoman Kammie Michael.
Investigators do not think the shooting was random, but they aren’t sure whether it involved the man brought to the hospital with a gunshot wound. Police did not disclose the man’s name, but they said he was listed in serious condition.
Investigators urge anyone with information to call 919-560-4440, ext. 29325, or CrimeStoppers at 919-683-1200. CrimeStoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases, and callers never have to identify themselves.
