The case of an Angier woman accused of hitting and injuring four cyclists this winter appeared on the Johnston County Superior Court docket Monday but was continued to this summer.
Donnie Marie Williams, 50, faces charges of reckless driving to endanger, unsafe passing in a curve and four counts of improper passing that resulted in serious bodily injury.
The charges stem from a Feb. 20 crash on the Johnston County portion of Massengill Pond Road, where, police say, Williams hit cyclists Christopher Graham, 34, Joel Arthur Lawrence, 57, Lynn Lashley, 57 and Michael Dayton, 60, from behind while attempting to pass them. Dayton and Lashley were seriously injured, with Lashley requiring back surgery. Williams is free on a $2,000 bond.
Smithfield attorney Charles Bullock was appointed as Williams’ public defender. She has yet to enter a plea, and her next court appearance is scheduled for July 18.
