A South Carolina man was in Wake County District Court on Monday after being returned to the state on a charge of conspiring in a delivery to Apex last year of almost 200 pounds of marijuana.
Mitchell Arthur Wilson, 31, of Columbia, S.C., was arrested in Richland County, where Columbia is, on May 9 on the basis of a warrant Apex police obtained in November charging him with conspiracy to traffic in marijuana. He was returned to Raleigh on Friday.
In November, when Apex police say the drug arrived in a shipping container from California, they arrested Abigail Elizabeth Hinds, 27, of San Mateo, Calif., on a charge of trafficking marijuana. She also was charged with having MDMA when she was being booked into the Wake County Detention Center.
Capt. Ann Stephens said Wilson and Hinds were part of a group that brought 194.5 pounds of the drug to Apex. The charges are dated Nov. 5.
Never miss a local story.
Police continued to look for three other suspects.
Hinds originally was held in lieu of $1,030,000, but she is no longer in custody.
Wilson had been held in lieu of $100,000 before his court appearance, but he, too, has been released.
