A Durham man was charged with knocking down a Lowe's Home Improvement customer, breaking her hip as he allegedly tried to flee the store with stolen power tools Tuesday.
Wallace Belfield Jr., 18, who was booked with an address of 1201 E. Main St. in Durham, also was charged with knocking down a store loss-prevention worker who confronted him when she believed he was trying to steal the merchandise.
Police arrested Belfield at the store at 11800 Galaxy Drive and charged him with felony assault inflicting serious bodily injury, misdemeanor assault on a female and misdemeanor larceny.
An arrest warrant said Belfield was taking a power-tool combination set worth $212.
A magistrate set Belfield’s bail at $100,000 and banned him from all Lowe’s stores in Wake County.
