A 37-year-old Clayton man was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison Wednesday for receiving child pornography via computer.
Jason William Wheeler pleaded guilty in January to one count of receipt of child pornography. After his prison sentence, he will serve five years of supervised release.
Wheeler’s arrest stemmed from a federal child pornography investigation in Florida where agents found that numerous emails containing sexually explicit photographs and videos had been sent to Wheeler in Clayton, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. In the fall of 2014, federal agents searched Wheeler’s house and found that he used several computers to send and receive images and videos that depicted children involved in sexual bondage or sexual sadomasochistic acts, according to prosecutors.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Wheeler admitted to receiving the child pornography in a written statement in April 2015.
