Police on Monday night arrested a man on a charge that he assaulted his 2-year-old daughter in June and leaving bruises on much of her body, and they charged the girl's mother with aiding and abetting the assault.
An arrest warrant alleged that on June 16, Terrell Leon Ballard, 22, assaulted his daughter, an attack “that resulted in in serious physical injury, bruising on her head, left arm, chest, abdomen, back and thighs.” Police did not saw whether the girl was hit with hands or
Ballard, who the warrant listed as living at 721 Lunar Drive in Raleigh but for whom booking records listed no permanent address, was charged with felony child abuse. He was arrested at a house at 509 Solar Drive, records showed.
An arrest warrant accused Sheena Sekret Bates, 23, of 2250 Charles Drive of aiding and abetting and said she is the girl’s mother.
Ballard was held in lieu of $75,000 bail. Bates was held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
