At least one person was injured when the victim in a drive-by shooting returned fire, police said Wednesday.
The incident happened a little before 7 p.m. Tuesday in the 900 block of Fiske Street, police spokeswoman Kammie Michael said.
A 33-year-old man was seriously wounded after a white car with two men in it stopped and someone in the car began firing shots at the man.
The victim was able to shoot back before collapsing, police determined. They did not know if he hit anyone in the car.
The man, whose named was not released, was rushed to Duke University Hospital for treatment.
Police had not charged anyone immediately, Michael said.
Investigators asked that anyone with information about the incident call CrimeStoppers at 919-683-1200.
