Two North Carolina schools ranked in the top 100 of The Daily Beast’s Top High Schools 2014 list released Wednesday.

The N.C. School of Science and Mathematics, a statewide boarding school in Durham, was ranked 12th by the online news reporting website, which merged with Newsweek in 2010. Raleigh Charter High School was ranked 29th on the list of 735 schools.

The Daily Beast contacted public schools around the nation with above-average graduation rates of at least 85 percent.

Around 1,200 schools completed the Daily Beast’s survey, with the rankings based on six indicators. Graduation and college acceptance rates weighed most heavily. Other criteria included: college-level courses and exams, percentage of students with free or reduced lunch, as well as SAT and ACT scores

Several other Triangle schools made the list: East Chapel Hill High at 162, Chapel Hill High at 357, Apex High at 570, Northwoods High in Pittsboro at 659, Leesville Road High in North Raleigh at 704, Heritage High in Wake Forest at 710, Wakefield High in North Raleigh at 723, Jordan-Matthews High in Siler City at 725, Cary High at 727 and Wake Forest High at 728.
