The Wake school board approved a plan Tuesday that will move 9,307 students to different schools this fall. The major goals are to fill seven new schools and ease crowding, especially at the high school level.
More than 2,500 elementary students are being reassigned from traditional to year-round schools. More than 3,700 students from all 17 existing high schools are being reassigned in a westward pattern to relieve crowding and to fill two new high schools.
Few middle-school students are being moved.
