N.C. State University kicked off the public phase of a $1.6 billion fund-raising effort on Friday night. The “Think and Do the Extraordinary Campaign,” announced at the newly renovated Reynolds Coliseum, is the university’s most ambitious fund-raising campaign in its history.
The campaign will run until Dec. 31, 2021. NCSU already has raised more than $1 billion toward the goal during the campaign’s quiet phase.
Fewer than 25 universities in the United States have embarked upon campaigns of $1.5 billion or more.
“State support makes NC State good,” Chancellor Randy Woodson said in a statement, “but the critical contributions from our supporters make us great. The success of this campaign will allow us to fund priorities and continue to fulfill the mission of providing economic, societal and intellectual prosperity far into the future.”
Among the top priorities in the campaign are:
▪ Increasing the number of endowed scholarships and fellowships.
▪ Growing N.C. State’s tenured and tenure-track faculty, in part by increasing the number of endowed professorships.
▪ Contributing to a more robust endowment for the school’s future.
