Four principals and the new head of Wake County’s student assignment office were appointed Tuesday night.
The Wake County school board promoted Glenn Carrozza to senior director of student assignment with a salary of $102,903. He starts his new job on Oct. 2, replacing the retiring Laura Evans as the public face of Wake’s assignment efforts.
Carrozza has been a director in the Office of Student Assignment since 2013.
The board also announced that Jennifer Zezza will start as principal of Joyner Elementary School in Raleigh on Sept. 25 with a salary of $84,293. She has been an assistant principal at Ligon Middle School in Raleigh since 2012.
Principal were also chosen for three alternative schools:
▪ Jody Hinds will start Monday as principal of SCORE Academy, which serves students who’ve been suspended or who want to get their diploma after having previously dropped out. Hinds will be paid $94,563 and has been an assistant principal at Heritage High School in Wake Forest since 2010.
▪ Janet Roberts will start Wednesday as principal of Wake’s Connections Academy, which serves suspended middle school students with learning disabilities. Roberts will be paid $94.563 and has been an assistant principal of Longview School in Raleigh since 2014.
▪ Michael Hokenberg will start as principal of Mt. Vernon Middle School in Raleigh on Oct. 2 with a salary of $81,956. He is a director of intervention services for Wake.
Also on Tuesday, Jan Hargrove’s contract as interim principal of Hunter Elementary School in Raleigh extended to Jan. 15.
