The Wake County school board announced Tuesday that Shejuanna Rodgers will be the principal of Apex Friendship Middle School, which will open next fall.
Rodgers has been the principal of Dillard Drive Middle School in Raleigh since 2013. Before that, she spent three years as principal of Rolesville Elementary.
Rodgers will start her new job Jan. 2 and earn an annual salary of $106,068.
Luther Thomas, a retired educator who is currently working as interim assistant principal of East Cary Middle School, will become the interim principal at Dillard Drive Middle. He will earn a salary of $85,737.40.
Also on Tuesday, the school board named Michelle Bell as the new principal at North Forest Pines Elementary in Raleigh. Bell is currently the principal of Parkwood Elementary in Durham. She will earn $91,988 per year.
A start date has not been determined for Bell, so Freda Cole will be the interim principal at North Forest Pines. Cole is a retired educator who currently works as interim assistant principal at Reed Creek Elementary in Raleigh. She will start Jan. 2 and make a salary of $83,163.08.
