This past school year, Johnston County schools raised a record amount for the American Heart Association.
By jumping rope and shooting hoops, elementary and middle school students raised $178,763.78 for the heart association, up more than $17,000 from the year before.
Four Oaks led the away among the county’s elementary schools, raising $18,899.30. McGee’s Crossroads led the middle school pack with $4,214.35.
The American Heart Association saluted Johnston County schools during a recent board of education meeting. Lori McCain, the association’s youth market associate, presented a banner to the school system.
