Nelson awarded Philip Watts Scholarship

Kate Nelson of Enloe High School in Raleigh was awarded the 2014 Philip Watts Scholarship, which recognizes a Wake County Public Schools outstanding senior student proficient in German.

Kate was nominated by her instructor, Nabeel Kandah, chair of the World Language Department.

Offered annually since 1986, the $1,500 scholarship honors the memory of Philip Campbell Watts, who taught German at Broughton High School in Raleigh for 23 years.

Kate plans to attend the University of Chicago.
