Nelson awarded Philip Watts Scholarship

Kate Nelson of Enloe High School in Raleigh was awarded the 2014 Philip Watts Scholarship, which recognizes an outstanding senior student of German in the Wake County Public Schools.

Kate Nelson of Enloe High School in Raleigh was awarded the 2014 Philip Watts Scholarship, which recognizes a Wake County Public Schools outstanding senior student proficient in German.

Kate was nominated by her instructor, Nabeel Kandah, chair of the World Language Department.

Offered annually since 1986, the $1,500 scholarship honors the memory of Philip Campbell Watts, who taught German at Broughton High School in Raleigh for 23 years.

Kate plans to attend the University of Chicago.
