Chapel Hill High team succeeds at summit

Team WaSOR from East Chapel Hill High received top honors at the Conrad Foundation 2014 Innovation Summit in Houston.

The Summit is the final competition round for the 2013-14 Spirit of Innovation Challenge, where student teams use science, technology, engineering and math skills to develop innovative products that help solve global and local problems while supporting global sustainability.

Team WaSOR includes Wen Tao Zhang, Jordan Cho and Kaleb Kang. They earned recognition in the Energy and Environment category for their oil-spill cleaning device.

The team was also named Pete Conrad Scholars in honor of Apollo 12 astronaut Charles “Pete” Conrad and his pursuit of innovation and entrepreneurship.
