Three area girls have been awarded the Girl Scout Silver Award, the second highest achievement in Girl Scouting.
▪ Savannah Barnes of Youngsville designed and purchased Automated External Defibrillator signs for the Flaherty Park tennis courts in Wake Forest.
The signs were needed so players on the court would be able to quickly locate an AED in an emergency. To pay for the signs, which were approved by the Wake County Parks and Recreation Department, Savannah sold cookies and lemonade by the tennis courts.
Savannah is the daughter of Angel and Chris Barnes. She is a member of Troop 1625.
▪ Heather Erlemann of Cary and Caileigh Shengulette of Apex held a food drive to benefit the food pantry at Dorcas Ministries in Cary. They collected food donations and crafted 100 canvas shopping bags to donate to the pantry.
Heather is the daughter of Jean and Greg Erlemann. Caileigh is the daughter of Kathy and Jerry Shengulette. They are members of Troop 510.
