If you want something done right, give it to an 11-year old girl. OK, maybe not just any 11-year old girl, but Claire Ledford of Sanford will work.
Claire ran a Flip Flops to Combat Boots shoe drive. The goal was 2,500 pairs of shoes during the month of November, and the month ended with almost 4,000 pairs on hand.
Funds4orgs buys the new or gently used shoes, spiffs them up and ships them to third world countries, where it sells them to those who can’t afford the cost of new shoes at regular stores. Funds4orgs pays a local charity for the shoes, and Claire’s charity is the Veterans Leadership Council of North Carolina – Cares, an organization dedicated to helping homeless and at-risk North Carolina veterans.
