Two Triangle high schools made presentations at the National Association of Students Against Violence Everywhere’s annual conference and workshop at the McKimmon Center on March 12.
Students from Garner Magnet High School did a presentation on their AntiBullying Week, including a Rally ‘Round the Flag Pole on National SAVE Day, PSAs, class activities, and school involvement.
Students from Chapel Hill High School presented a program called “Toilet Talk: Using Social Norms to Share Messages,” showing how to design and conduct a student poll and share results. They discussed sharing important teen safety facts and exploring “what we believe is happening vs. what the actual behaviors and facts are.”
First organized at at West Charlotte High School in Charlotte, SAVE is a nonprofit dedicated to decreasing the potential for violence among teens. Maggie Adams from Chapel Hill High School and Jenny Suwanmanee from East Chapel Hill High School both serve on the National SAVE Youth Advisory Board.
