New principal named to Panther Creek High School

The Wake County school board announced new principals Tuesday for Panther Creek High School and four other schools.

Camille Hedrick will become principal of Panther Creek High in Cary at a salary of $131,556. Hedrick has been principal of Apex Middle School since 2009.

Elena Ashburn is the new principal of East Garner Middle School at a salary of $66,078. Ashburn has been an assistant principal at Fuquay-Varina High School since 2012.

Kendra Culberson will become principal of Herbert Akins Elementary School in Fuquay Varina at a salary of $86,028. Culberson has been principal of Timber Drive Elementary School in Garner since 2007.

Fay Jones will become principal of Carpenter Elementary School in Cary at a salary of $84,341. She has been principal of Grady Brown Elementary School in Hillsborough since 2010.

Teresa Abron will serve as Carpenter’s interim principal from Sept. 15 to Nov. 15. The retired educator was also appointed Tuesday to serve as interim principal of Powell Elementary School in Raleigh until Sept. 12.
