Former Wake County Schools Superintendent Tony Tata will be helping the Wake County Republican Party raise money in Raleigh on Friday night.
Tata, now the state Transportation Secretary and a retired U.S. Army brigadier general, and Louisiana State Senator Elbert Guillory. are the “special guest speakers” at what’s being called the Wake GOP’s “biggest fundraiser of the year.” This year's event theme is “Honoring Our Heroes” as a tribute to first responders and military.
“This event brings together Republicans from all over Wake County,” Wake GOP Chairwoman Donna Williams said in a press release late Monday. “We honor our heroes, raise money for our voter guides and Get Out The Vote activities this fall and get to hear from great speakers like General Tata and Senator Guillory. It will be an amazing night for all!”
Tata remains popular with Wake County Republicans after having been fired as superintendent by the school board’s Democratic majority in 2012.
