The Wake County school system has scheduled three community meetings in October for the public to comment on the 2015-16 student assignment proposal.
The meetings will be held Oct. 9 at Wake Forest High School, 420 W. Stadium Drive in Wake Forest; Oct. 14 at Apex High School, 1501 Laura Duncan Road in Apex; and Oct. 16 at Millbrook High School, 2201 Spring Forest Road in Raleigh. They all start at 6:30 p.m.
The meetings take place around the time that school administrators present the second draft of the new assignment plan to the school board in October. The official plan will be presented to the board in November with more public hearings before the final vote in December.
At last week’s board meeting, school board vice chairman Tom Benton praised people for the “thoughtful suggestions” that have been provided online on the first draft of the assignment plan. He also urged people in his district, which covers Eastern Wake, Wake Forest and Rolesville, to attend the Oct. 9 meeting.
Never miss a local story.
“That will definitely be your time to come out and share ideas in person with staff and to give them your insights into what you would like to see happen,” Benton said.
