The Wake County school system could form a task force to study how to deal with the impact of municipal growth on the district’s schools.
A discussion on the task force is one of the items on today’s agenda for the school board’s government relations committee. The issue comes up as growth in western Wake and southwestern Wake has led to responses such as enrollment caps, calendar conversions, placement of additional classroom trailers and talk of student reassignment.
School board member Keith Sutton, the committee’s chairman, said the committee was recently charged to consider some strategies for addressing growth with local municipalities.
The committee is also scheduled to discuss planning for the legislative agenda for next year’s long session of the General Assembly.
