While most of the current and former Wake County school board support has gone to the Democrats running for the county board of commissioners, there’s been one notable exception.
On Thursday night, former school board member Ron Margiotta sponsored a rally in Apex for the four Republican incumbents on the Wake County Board of Commissioners and Sheriff Donnie Harrison. Margiotta, who moved from New Jersey in 2000, touted in his invitation that he was “importing his famous hot dogs from New Jersey” for the event.
“Sheriff Harrison has kept Wake County safe and our Commissioners have kept taxes low,” Margiotta said in his invitation for the event. “We need to re-elect them all to allow them to continue their great work.”
His invitation said that “donations are not required, but would be greatly appreciated by the candidates.” Margiotta, as you may recall, served on the school board from 2003 to 2011 and was chairman from 2009 to 2011 when Republicans were in the majority.
