While voters are at the polls Tuesday, the Wake County school board will deal with topics such as student assignment and technology at today’s meeting.
During the work session, staff will present the third and final draft of the 2015-16 student assignment proposal. From today forward, it will switch from being the staff’s proposal to the board’s proposal before the vote in December.
The public, particularity families in western and southwestern Wake, will be looking to see what changes were made from the second draft. Last month’s community meeting in Apex was contentious with school board member Susan Evans telling the audience that “we're not going to stand here tonight and tell you OK because you yell at us we’re going to change that.”
Also during the work session, staff will discuss with the board the technology plan that was made possible by the public’s approval last year of the school construction bond issue. Wake is looking at a model of one device for every three students.
The agenda for the regular meeting looks fairly light and could go rapidly.
