Come early next year, it will be former Wake County school board member Debra Goldman and not John Tedesco or Deborah Prickett who will be in elective office.
Goldman was elected Tuesday to the town commission of Ronda, in Wilkes County, on a write-in vote. Goldman resigned from the school board in February to become executive director of the Derie Cheek Reece Foundation in Ronda.
Of the four members of the former Republican school board majority elected in 2009, only Goldman and Chris Malone, now a state legislator, will still be in office somewhere. Tedesco, who didn’t run for re-election, and Prickett, who lost her re-election bid, served at their last regular board meeting on Tuesday.
Both Goldman and Malone were caught up in a game of he said, she said over whether they had an affair when they served on the board. That comes along with her allegation to police that Malone, who was cleared by authorities, may have broken into her home in 2010.
