The Wake County school system has announced that schools will open on a two-hour delay Wednesday because of the expected icy road conditions.

The snow that’s hitting the Triangle will freeze overnight. This could lead to treacherous road conditions on Wednesday morning.

A big reason that school leaders often call for delays is not just because of the conditions for school buses. They’re worried about all the teenagers who drive themselves to school.

The WakeEd blog is devoted to discussing and answering questions about the major issues facing the Wake County school system. WakeEd is maintained by The News & Observer's Wake schools reporter, T. Keung Hui.
