Wake County schools closed Tuesday

The closing of school on Tuesday because of forecasts of snow means that Wake County’s traditional-calendar students will likely need to make up the day on Feb. 17, which is Presidents Day.

The Wake County school system has announced that school will be closed Tuesday because of the forecasts of inclement weather.

If Wake sticks to the adopted calendar, traditional-calendar students will make up the snow day on Feb. 17 – Presidents Day. For modified-calendar schools, Wake would either cut into spring break or extend the end of the school year.

Students at the multi-track year-round schools would make it up on a Saturday to be determined. The question for Wake is that with all the single-track year-round schools that follow Track 4, will they make them come in a Saturday or take away a day from one of the intersession breaks?
