Wake County schools closing Thursday

Wake County students will now get three straight snow days with the closure of school on Thursday because of road conditions caused by the winter storm.

The snow break for Wake County students will extend another day.

The Wake County school system has announced that schools will be closed on Thursday for the third day in a row.

Wake hasn’t yet announced when students will make up Thursday. But traditional-calendar students will now likely lose March 28 – the first day of spring break. But that day is a Friday so it’s less likely to interrupt family plans yet.

A third day of Saturday classes will be in store for year-round students.

In terms of the first two snow days, traditional-calendar students will now have classes on Feb. 17 and April 21.

Year-round students will have classes on two Saturdays – Feb. 1 and May 31.

Modified-calendar students will have school on Feb. 17 and March 10.

Early college and single-sex leadership academy students will make up the days on May 29 and May 30.
