The Wake County school board has canceled Thursday’s student assignment work session.

School board chairwoman Christine Kushner said the meeting was canceled out of respect for board member Susan Evans, who will be attending her mother’s funeral on Thursday. Evans wasn’t at Tuesday’s board meeting because of her mother’s death.

Kushner said she hopes to reschedule the work session to next Thursday, May 1.

The first two work session/seminars have been primarily focused on staff explaining the variables in the assignment process. With the third meeting, staff will want more direction from the board on how to implement the variables in crafting the new multi-year, comprehensive assignment plan.
