The Wake County school budget fight enters the next stage today when new County Manager Jim Hartmann presents his first budget to county commissioners.

A lot of eyes will be on how much Hartmann recommends giving to the school system, which wants a $39.3 million increase to $366 million. The gap between Hartmann’s recommendation and what the school board wants will set the range the commissioners will be facing.

After today, the commissioners will hold a budget work session and budget public hearings. The vote would take place in June.
