Wake County school administrators may change one of the two Saturdays that have been proposed as potential makeup days for traditional-calendar schools for the 2015-16 school year.
On Tuesday, the school board preliminarily backed using Oct. 3 and April 16 as possible makeup days after administrators said those two Saturdays would not conflict with SAT or ACT test dates. But school administrators learned Wednesday that the College Board, which administers the SAT, recently confirmed that Oct. 3 will be a test day.
Administrators said a different Saturday may be recommended to replace Oct. 3 when the school board votes on the makeup day list on May 5.
Staff had designated Oct. 3 as a possible makeup day because hurricanes have sometimes caused schools to close in the fall semester. But Oct. 3 would only be used after two other makeup options in the fall:
▪ Converting the Sept 4 and Oct. 16 early release days to full days.
▪ Turning the Oct. 26 teacher workday to a regular day.
