Last week, the Wake County school board hired new principals for two North Raleigh elementary schools, including one where the previous principal left amid complaints from some parents.
Aaron Marcin was named principal of Lead Mine Elementary School in Raleigh, with a salary of $76,735. Marcin had been assistant principal of Green Hope Elementary School in Cary since 2010.
Marcin replaces April Hill, who left to take a job in central office after some parents had called for her ouster. To try to calm things down at the end of the last school year, Ken Branch was appointed Lead Mine’s lead interim principal and later interim principal.
Janet Kehoe was named principal of Durant Road Elementary School in Raleigh, with a salary of $88.919. Kehoe had been principal of South View Middle School in Cumberland County since 2013.
Kehoe replaces Teresa Winstead, who retired as Durant Road’s principal after serving there since 2003.
