GARNER -- A 54-year-old woman who had been reported missing after she did not show up for work Monday was found unharmed around midnight by the Chatham County Sheriff's Office, police reported.

Chatham deputies found the woman, Sheila Towell Shaner, on U.S. 64, Garner police reported this morning.

Shaner told the police that she was leaving her residence at Abberly Place Apartments off Timber Drive in East Garner around 7:40 a.m. Monday when someone kidnapped her in the apartment complex parking lot.

Shaner's co-workers and family became concerned when she failed to show up for work at the First Citizens Data Processing Center at Tryon and Hammond roads, police reported.

Shaner owns a 2006 silver Pontiac Montana that was taken during the kidnapping. The vehicle has not been located.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call the Garner Police Department at 919-772-8810.
