HILLSBOROUGH - Brandon Johnson, 22, pleaded guilty Tuesday to stealing a church van in February, driving it through a video-game store window and leading police on a chase at high speeds.

He was sentenced to five months in prison, most of which he has already served, 2 1/2 years' probation, inpatient treatment for cocaine addiction and $1,375 in restitution for damaging a fence and lawn in a subdivision and breaking a window at the Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Deputies estimated damage to the Gamestop electronics store at $50,000. Assistant District Attorney Lamar Proctor said the store did not request restitution.
