CHAPEL HILL - The public is invited to a community discussion about race relations at 7 p.m. today in Chapel Hill Town Hall, 405 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

Organized by the town's Justice in Action Committee, the event is the first in a series about race and social justice in Chapel Hill.

Mayor Kevin Foy and committee chairman Andre Wessen will make welcoming remarks. Jan Boxill, director of the Parr Center for Ethics at UNC-Chapel Hill, will help lead the discussion after a viewing of the film "Class Divided." The film documents third-grade teacher Jane Elliott's "blue eyes-brown eyes" exercise, originally conducted in the days after the assassination of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. in 1968. The film is designed to get people talking about racism, as well as the role of prejudice and stereotyping.

To learn more, contact Andre Wessen at 843-8917 or Jan Boxill at 962-3317.
