A Carrboro man is one of the first two semi-finalists selected in a preliminary drawing for the state lottery's "$130 Million Blockbuster" instant scratch-off game.
Willard Cotton's entry was one of two drawn from more than 350,000 entries, along with one from Winston-Salem resident Joseph Burleson, according to a news release from the North Carolina Education Lottery. The semi-finalists will be entered into a grand prize drawing for a chance to collect $50,000 a year for life (minus state and federal taxes), with a minimum of 20 years guaranteed.
Each semi-finalist is guaranteed at least $1,500.
Cotton purchased his $10 scratch-off ticket at a Kangaroo Express on Highway 54 West in Carrboro, according to the release.
The deadline to buy a ticket for the next preliminary drawing is Dec. 23.
