CHAPEL HILL - A spokeswoman for The Fresh Market confirmed Tuesday that the Greensboro-based chain plans to open a store at Glenwood Square in spring 2008.

The Harris Teeter company also plans to close its Glenwood Square store today.

In a news release, Harris Teeter said the store's 36 employees will be offered jobs in the Harris Teeter company, which has three other stores within three miles of the store it is closing.

The Fresh Market resembles an old world European market, with an old-style butcher shop, fish market, bakery, produce and floral stands. On its Web site, the company says its stores generally employ 90 people.
