CHAPEL HILL -
A fire Thursday night destroyed a resident's home on Shady Lawn Extension in northern Chapel Hill.
Twenty-three emergency personnel responded just after 11 p.m. and extinguished the fire within 20 minutes. It rekindled about 3:30 a.m., and Chapel Hill firefighters remained there through late morning to salvage the homeowners' belongings.
No one was injured. The resident was not at home at the time of the fire and was staying with family members. The fire department had not determined the cause of the blaze.
