MARINE CORPS AIR STATION NEW RIVER - An MV-22 Osprey aircraft was forced to land Tuesday because of an engine fire.

The military aircraft landed about 9 p.m. at a landing zone in the Holly Ridge community near Marine Corps Air Station New River. Spokeswoman Maj. Shawn Haney said there were no injuries.

Authorities said the engine housing was damaged. The cause of the fire was being investigated.

The Osprey has a tilting wing and engine assembly that allows it to take off and land like a helicopter but fly like an airplane.
