The state commission charged with recommending revisions to the Common Core education standards for math and English is inviting parent comment at its next meeting.
Parents are invited to make public comments Monday at the Academic Standards Review Commission meeting, to be held on the 7th floor of the state education building at 301 N. Wilmington St. in Raleigh. The meeting begins at 1 p.m.
Due to time constraints, the commission is limiting comments to the first 20 parents. Each will be given three minutes to speak. Parents are being asked to talk about how the Common Core standards may have impacted their children’s school experience.
Those who wish to speak are being asked to submit their names, email addresses and phone numbers to Jo Herrera at Jocelyn.Herrera@doa.nc.gov.
Never miss a local story.
North Carolina was one of more than 40 states that adopted Common Core standards. The commission is reviewing the controversial standards with the goal of suggesting changes to the State Board of Education by the end of the year.
