With 21 of 22 precincts reporting, incumbent Yvonne Lewis Holley was leading challenger Joe Thompson to keep her N.C. House District 38 seat.
Holley, a Democrat, led with 79.76 percent of the vote. Thompson, a Republican who has not held elected office, had 20.24 percent of the vote.
District 38 spans parts of Southeast Raleigh, along with eastern parts of the city. Holley has said her top issues are to support teacher pay raises and to improve healthy-food access, workforce development and job creation.
