Democratic Rep. William Brisson held off Republican challenger Ken Smith by 6 percentage points.
Brisson, a farmer from Dublin who was first elected to the House in 2006, said he wanted to focus on providing state support to rural communities and helping the elderly. He also wants to get rid of hurdles that businesses face in trying to grow.
Smith, an ordained minister from Clinton, campaigned on 2nd Amendment issues and abortion. He also wanted to increase funding for autism research.
