With 15 of 21 precincts in, veteran state Rep. H.M. "Mickey" Michaux had an overwhelming lead over challenger Todd Conard for the state House in District 31.
Michaux had 89 percent of the vote to Conard's 11 percent. District 31 covers the northeastern part of the city of Durham and adjacent rural areas.
Michaux, a Democrat, has held his House seat since 1983; he also served in the House from 1973 through 1977. Republican Conard is a newcomer to electoral politics in Durham.
