Gov. Pat McCrory is the proud recipient of a new wooden table from Morganton’s Chaddock furniture company.
The company’s CEO, Tom Powell, dropped off the table Tuesday. It features the North Carolina state seal and “represents a combination old-school finishing techniques and new, cutting-edge technologies,” according to a news release from the governor’s office.
The table will be displayed in McCrory’s office in the state Capitol building. As with all gifts to the governor, it’s state property and will remain after McCrory leaves office.
“This is such a fine piece of furniture and I’m going to display it proudly here in the governor’s office,” McCrory said in the release. “It’s encouraging to hear that Western Piedmont Community College and N.C. State are helping train the Chaddock workforce for new technologies in the furniture industry, like the one that was used to make this table.”
The news release from McCrory notes that Chaddock “creates furniture that is ‘finished to perfection’ ” and “is available at leading furniture retailers and showrooms worldwide.”
