Feds head to NC for food stamp fraud report

Representatives from the U.S. Government Accountability Office will be in North Carolina next week as part of a review of federal and state efforts to address fraud and abuse in the food stamp program, formally known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP.

GAO will be visiting a few states, according to its public affairs office, and will publish a report next year.

GAO is not auditing North Carolina or its contractors, the office said.
