Updated: UNC chancellor Carol Folt and N.C. State chancellor Randy Woodson will get a chance to offer the president their views on how to make a college education accessible to more people.
The two will be part of a larger group of college and university presidents, members of the private sector and leaders of nonprofits and foundations who are being invited to the White House on Thursday by President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama.
Woodson and Folt however, will get Obama’s ear a little longer than the others: They hitched a ride up to D.C. with Obama on Air Force One after the president’s speech at NCSU on Wednesday, according to a university spokesman.
The event, which starts at 9 a.m. and extends into the late afternoon, is focused on expanding college opportunity. It will be streamed lived on www.whitehouse.gov/live.
