Republican Phil Berger Jr. will begin airing the first of his TV campaign ads Friday in the race for U.S. Rep. Howard Coble’s 6th Congressional District seat.

In the ad, which will run for six weeks, the Rockingham County district attorney promises to end the federal health care law and cut spending and taxes.

“When I say I won’t compromise our conservative values, I mean it,” Berger says in the 30-second video.

Matt Mercer, Berger’s campaign manager, said the ad will air district-wide on cable before the filing period begins Monday.

He would not disclose the cost of the ad, making it difficult to tell how many people will see it.

Berger faces a highly contested Republican primary.
