Anita Brown-Graham has stepped down as director of the Institute for Emerging Issues and will leave the institute next month to take a new job with the UNC School of Government.
The institute, based at N.C. State and formed in the 1980s by Gov. Jim Hunt, runs annual forums and initiatives on public policy. The News and Observer profiled Brown-Graham Sunday as its Tar Heel of the Week, highlighting her work with leaders and politicos of varying ideologies.
Those skills should come in handy in Brown-Graham’s new role as part of an effort to expand the School of Government’s work with officials. “Teams of experts within and beyond the SOG will work with a wide range of public officials, as well as key organizations and individuals, to facilitate decision making based on credible and understandable data,” Brown-Graham wrote in an e-mail.
