In another sign that North Carolina’s gubernatorial contest is attracting national attention, NBC News political director Chuck Todd will moderate a debate between North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory and Attorney General Roy Cooper.
The debate will take place at the UNC-TV studios in Research Triangle Park on Oct. 11. The hour-long debate will air live at 7 p.m. across the state on about 30 TV stations and on radio stations belonging to the N.C. News Network.
The debate is sponsored by the N.C. Association of Broadcasters Educational Foundation.
It is the first and possibly only event in the campaign with a traditional debate format. The two candidates shared a stage in Charlotte in June sponsored by the N.C. Bar Association.
Todd is the moderator for NBC’s Sunday morning show “Meet the Press.”
